La Paz Waterfalls | Tavo Leon Tours

Day 2: Poas Volcano National Park and La Paz Waterfall Gardens

The trip will take you to the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, where you will visit the Poás volcano, a popular tourist attraction in Costa Rica. The volcano is a sulfuric, bubbling lake with steam rising from fumaroles, forming pockets of steam that can reach up to 820 feet high. The crater is 1,050 feet deep and the largest active crater in the world.

 

Next, you will visit The Waterfall Gardens La Paz, the #1 Most Visited Privately Owned Ecological Attraction in Costa Rica.

The park offers a variety of attractions, including five waterfalls, a cloud forest, rain forest, aviary, insect exhibit, butterfly observatory, capuchin monkeys, black-handed spider monkeys, hummingbird garden, serpentarium, jaguars, pumas, ocelots, margays, tica house, ranarium, orchid, and heliconia exhibits. This makes it the best eco park in Costa Rica.

Day 3: Transfer to Tortuguero area

After a buffet breakfast, we drive through the beautiful Braulio Carrillo National Park toward the Caribbean side of Costa Rica, and after a little bumpy right at the last part of our journey, we will get to the rustic pier where we are going to get the boat (not private) to join with the regular tour of the hotel to Tortuguero.

 

Here we start our adventure in the amazing rainforest of Costa Rica.

Upon our arrival at the hotel, and after checking in, we are going to visit the village of Tortuguero to learn about the history of the place and the natural history of the sea turtles.

Day 4: Tour around Tortuguero area and transfer to Arenal. White-Water-Rafting on the way.

This day’s itinerary includes visiting the Tortuguero National Park, the neotropical rainforest, and taking a roofless boat through the canals.

After breakfast, we drive towards La Fortuna Area and stop at Sarapiqui for whitewater rafting.

The white water rafting tour begins in La Virgen de Sarapiquí, a significant community, and takes us through a beautiful 16-kilometer stretch of river with exciting rapids and ponds.

This tour is suitable for beginners and experienced rafters, and runs from 2:30 to 3 hours.

The tour includes a fruit snack stop halfway through.

Tour Around Arenal Area | Arenal Lake Kayaking, La Fortuna Waterfall, Organic Farm and Hot Springs.

La Fortuna Waterfall, located at the base of Cerro Chato volcano, is the most visited waterfall in Costa Rica. With over 500 steps, it drops 75 meters into a bright blue pool, creating a perfect postcard of the Costa Rican jungle. A calm water pool area is available for swimming.

Don Juan Eco Farm, owned by a Costa Rican farmer offers a tour of plantations, fruits, cooking, health benefits, and industrial uses. The farm attracts various birds and offers a trapiche for sugar cane production, guaro, and a healthy, organic lunch. 

In the afternoon, you will paddle across Arenal Lake. The tour includes a brief explanation of basic kayaking techniques and a chance to enjoy the beautiful landscape, swim in the lake, and have fun.

At the end of the day, you will enjoy the soothing hot springs to relax and take it easy.

Day 5: Transfer to Monteverde. Nature walk at Arenal Volcano´s foothill | Night Walk at Monteverde

The Arenal Volcano National Park hike is a popular tour in La Fortuna, allowing visitors to get close to the volcano while walking through the lush Costa Rican rainforest. The trails are generally flat and not very strenuous, making it a leisurely and informative hike.

 

After the hike, you will travel to the Monteverde Cloud Forests region.

 

A night walk with a local guide in small groups allows for an opportunity to observe wildlife, including raccoons, sloths, armadillos, olingos, and kinkajous, who jump at night for food and perform normal activities.

Day 6: Zipline Tour in Monteverde. Travel to the Central Pacific

The Canopy Tour in Monteverde offers an adrenaline-packed zip line experience, with 15 cables and 18 viewing platforms built into the cloud forest, providing a sense of immersion.

The tour includes a “Tarzan Swing” at the end, allowing participants to swing out above the forest. Safety equipment is provided by local guides, and  you will be fitted with high-quality harnesses.

The tour is suitable for anyone over four, but weight restrictions apply, with a maximum waste width of 120 cm and thigh width of 80 cm. Participants are advised to wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and a rain jacket. The tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

 

After this fantastic activity we will travel to the Central Pacific region.

Day 7: Tour around Central Pacific with Manuel Antonio National Park and Catamaran Sunset Tour

Manuel Antonio National Park: After breakfast we are going to drive to the entrance of the National Park, then we are going to take a hike in another of those amazingly abundant biodiversity places of the country. In a slow nice walk, I will bring my professional spotting equipment (telescope) to help you enjoy this adventure in a much better way.

At the end of the path, the price will be to be in one of the top ten most beautiful beaches of the world: Manuel Antonio Beach with its golden sand, crystalline water, emerald green border of the forest with occasionally curious monkeys playing around, it´s just like paradise to our eyes.

After this, we are going to drive to Marina Pez Vela so we can join the regular Half-Day Catamaran Sunset Tour (not private).

 

This outstanding naturalist tour with amazing views of the Manuel Antonio National Park onboard our catamaran is a truly amazing trip for nature lovers who can enjoy not only the whole experience but also the breathtaking sunset out on the Pacific Ocean. Get to experience humpback whales, dolphins, and beautiful marine wildlife.

Onboard we offer an excellent selection of snacks and natural juices. As you cruise along the coast, enjoy the sea breeze, the summer sunshine of Costa Rica, and this unique tropical paradise at its best. Also onboard we will have a late lunch.

Day 9: Transfer to San José with Crocodile Safari and sightseeing tour of the city.

Today we will use the morning to enjoy the hotel facilities, then we will start our return to San Jose but on the way we are going to stop at Tarcoles River.

 

Here we will board a little boat and take a smooth ride on this river trying to observe the nice population of giant crocodiles we have, also is one of the best places in the country for bird watching.

We will walk through the streets of San José visiting the main buildings and monuments of the city learning about the history, it is also an experience to get a close vision of the culture of Costa Rica.
