Our 4-day Bocas del Toro itinerary takes you across the archipelago to see the top sights and experience the best activities this region has to offer. From boat tours and snorkeling to exploring colorful towns, you’ll get a comprehensive taste of this island paradise in the Caribbean Sea.
Day 1:
Orientation walk and Day at your leisure
Upon arrival in the Bocas del Toro archipelago, we will have an orientation walk around Isla Colon to help familiarize ourselves with the area. We’ll walk along the colorful streets of Bocas del Toro, pointing out landmarks, restaurants, shops, and conveniences.
After the short walking tour, there will be free time to explore more of Isla Colon on your own, go for a swim, relax on the beach, browse the shops, or find a restaurant for a delicious Caribbean-inspired lunch. The rest of the afternoon and evening will be open for you to enjoy Bocas del Toro as you wish!
On this day of our Bocas del Toro itinerary, we will pick you up at your hotel in San Jose and transfer you to the International Airport to take the flight to Bocas del Toro.
The flight takes around an hour. There will be more waiting time in the airport than flying. However, as you arrive at the Bocas del Toro Archipelago, any waiting time will be forgotten when you see, from the air, the amazing islands that you are about to visit.
Day 2:
Today we embark on an incredible boat tour to some of the top attractions in Bocas del Toro.
Our first stop will be at Dolphin Bay, Bocas del Toro, where you may see bottlenose dolphins having fun and leaping in couples and groups of 5 to 6. The bay is situated in a mangrove region and is recognized for its abundance of fish and crustaceans, making it a perfect home for dolphins in the Bocas del Toro archipelago.
After that, we travel to Coral Cay for more thrilling snorkeling among the coral reefs of Bocas del Toro, which are teeming with beautiful tropical fish and marine wildlife.
Day 3:
Bird Island , Starfish, and Bocas del Drago
On our third day of our Bocas del Toro itinerary, we will travel by boat to the amazing Bird Island. The island is a stunning rocky isle with a small area of lush vegetation and thousands of birds living there. It’s a tropical bird sanctuary, home to native and migratory species, including the red-billed tropicbird (Phaethon aethereus). The island is located off the north shore of Bocas del Toro.
Then we travel to Starfish Beach where you will take a surreal walk on a white sanded beach full of orange live starfish.
Then you will travel by boat to the close Bocas del Drago, to enjoy the beach and the views.
Day 4:
Sadly, all good things must come to an end!
Today we transfer back to mainland Costa Rica after our Bocas del Toro adventure, likely already dreaming of the day we can return to this Caribbean paradise!
